CHILD SPECIALIST SERVICES

The Child Specialist serves as a neutral information gatherer who assesses children and gives them a supportive, confidential platform to share their experience in their family dynamics. Through an empathetic joining approach, the Child Specialist deciphers the child’s experience through their lens. Then, the perspective of the child and the assessment of the Child Specialist are utilized to support parents/caregivers in creating a custom plan that meets the child’s needs.  Child Specialist Services are beneficial for both minor and adult children. Although the Child Specialist’s role was originally developed under the Collaborative Process, Pamela has expanded the use of this role and incorporates it into most aspects of her practice often finding it more effective than traditional therapy.

The Child Specialist:

  • ï‚· Is able to decipher the child’s behaviors and responses that often appear as symptomatic approaches to navigating the adult conflict or even minor breakdowns in the adult unit.

  • Does not identify the child as the problem or provide therapy.

  • Requires specialized training in areas such as mediation, conflict resolution, parenting, divorce and the effects of conflict on children.

  • Provides a professional snapshot of the child’s experience, concerns, desires and needs in the family system.

  • Is an accessible expert resource for parents and caregivers.
